Vis Constructions has formal systems in place with a view to strengthening the Far North Queensland construction industry to foster the continued training of both on-site and office-based personnel. In partnership with Skill360 Australia, Vis Constructions has made a commitment to the future generation of skilled labour through the employment of apprentices.

VIS CONSTRUCTIONS 2Vis Constructions maintains a staff training matrix, and employees and apprentices are regularly involved in training and capacity building activities such as:

  • Master Builders Associates Training Sessions
  • First Aid Training
  • Asbestos Training
  • WPHS Training
  • Safety in Construction Training
  • Management and Leadership Training
  • Cross-cultural Awareness

Indigenous Employment and Training

Vis-Constructions-Djarragun-Inside-400Vis Constructions has gone one step further in their commitment to strengthening the capacity of the Cairns region by implementing an Indigenous Employment and Training Policy and Management Plan.

We are undertaking a number of initiatives to improve the inclusion of Indigenous tradesmen in the North Queensland workforce.  This includes:

  • Building cultural competence through cross-cultural training
  • Developing relationships with Indigenous sub-contractors and businesses (such as Bama Services, Skill360 Australia and TAFE North Queensland.
  • Actively seeking Indigenous apprentices to work with us on larger projects
