About us

Vis Constructions is an award-winning local builder with a commitment to quality construction and project delivery. We have a cohesive team of building and project management staff with a long history of delivering commercial, industrial, and domestic construction projects.

Our success is largely attributed to our effectiveness in delivering projects on time and within budget. We have made this a company-wide goal and we work together, from senior management through to the construction team, to achieve this. Many of our client testimonials refer to our strong reputation in this regard. You will find that we have a professional yet relaxed approach that fosters cooperation and collaboration.

We have been operating in the Far North Queensland region for over 30 years, with a focus on Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands. Originally operating as a partnership, Suzanne and Keith Vis traded under the name Keith Vis Builders before changing the name to Vis Constructions Pty Ltd in 2003. We currently have 12 employees that consist of experienced carpenters, site supervisors, a workplace health and safety advisor, apprentices, accounts manager, contract administrators, project manager and estimator. We have also won a suite of QMBA Awards throughout our 30 years of operation.

At Vis Constructions we regularly undertake a range of construction projects from simple renovations through to complex multi-million dollar projects. Over the years, we have completed a multitude of projects including renovations, refurbishments, warehouses, shop fit-outs, education facilities, childcare centres, as well as industrial and commercial projects.  We are are particularly well known for our ability to work with heritage buildings and timber construction methods.

Our local community

We believe that the future of the Far North Queensland community depends on the enthusiasm and support of businesses such as ours. As a result of this philosophy, we actively seek out ways to work with suppliers in Cairns, Atherton Tablelands and the wider North Queensland region. We then extend this commitment to a range of community groups in Cairns.

From construction and contractual view-point, we have established an extensive industry network of high-quality subcontractors and labour services located in Far North Queensland.  We have company accounts with more than fifteen Cairns region businesses and use local products and services wherever possible. To assist with this, Vis Constructions is registered with the Queensland Government ICN Gateway and we use this tool to assist with identifying local construction subcontractors and suppliers.

Our Corporate Social Responsibility portfolio is important to us. We support the local Cairns community through a donation of sponsorship and volunteering our time for the following organisations and events:

  • Stratford Soccer Club
  • RSPCA
  • Special Children’s Christmas Party
  • We accept three Cairns State High School work-experience students each year

We choose to actively contribute and support the Cairns community as we feel it creates a win-win scenario. Our business has the opportunity to build relationships, find potential employees, and build our profile.  The Cairns community benefits through financial, technical and personal support of grassroots and sporting initiatives.
